Eversendai Achieves Premier Milestone in Building of Self-Propelled Jack-Ups

Dubai, 2 October 2014 – Eversendai Offshore RMC FZE, an Oil & Gas and marine fabrication company; specialising in onshore and offshore projects and wholly owned by Eversendai Corporation Berhad, is proud to announce its premier milestone for the two GustoMSC NG-2500X self-propelled jack-ups, known as liftboats, which are being constructed at its waterfront yard in RAK Maritime City, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

The first steel-cutting ceremony, held at Eversendai Offshore’s yard facility, which spans across a land measuring approximately 200,000 square metres with 550 metres of quayside, marks the first major milestone for the 2 new build self-propelled jack-ups respectively named ‘Aryan’ and ‘ Arjun’, scheduled to be delivered in 2016.

Narish Nathan, Chief Executive Officer of Eversendai Offshore, stated, “This is a major breakthrough for Eversendai Group with Eversendai Offshore being on course with this first milestone achievement. Our team is looking forward to successfully accomplishing this breakthrough contract within the Group. Engineering works are being carried out in-house, and this is yet another achievement for us as we are the first organisation in the industry within this region to perform detailed design and engineering for self-propelled jack-ups on our own. We have a highly experienced team of engineers who utilise state-of-the-art 3D technology with Aveva Systems from Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams right up to fabrication drawings and CNC programs”.

Eversendai Group’s Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director, Tan Sri A K Nathan added, “The self-propelled jack-ups are just the beginning as we also foresee Eversendai playing an active role in the Oil & Gas and marine sectors through our involvement in topside decks, jack-up rigs, rig refurbishment and maintenance, process modules and offshore living quarters, amongst others. We are confident of our capabilities and expertise in executing these contracts as more than half of the job scope of these contracts including the hull and jack-up legs, involve structural steel works. We have been in the business of building complex steel structures for over three decades while maintaining a stellar reputation. In addition to that, we have also signed a classification agreement with DNV GL, the leading technical advisor to the global oil and gas industry, who will ensure that both units will be constructed in accordance to the design and specification.

Tan Sri A K Nathan concluded, “We remain committed to making a name for ourselves in this industry and we recognise there is a huge demand for self-propelled jack-ups on a global scale. We will be actively bidding for contracts in the Middle East and Asia and strongly believe that our extensive network and experience will provide us with an edge and help bolster our efforts as we move towards expanding and growing our business regionally and globally. We have gone to great lengths to build a capable and experienced team who have constructed self-propelled jack-ups in the past. As a global organisation, we strive to maintain our standards while setting new standards to complement our strategies and initiatives to deliver value creation for all our clients and sustain attractive growth well into the future”.
