Kuala Lumpur, 09 September 2020 – Eversendai Corporation Berhad “Eversendai” announced today that it has created a world record and landmark feat in the construction industry with its amazing, one-of-a-kind iconic landmark project, the “One Za’abeel” in Dubai.
One Za’abeel is an iconic, high-rise, mixed-use luxury development in Dubai. The impressive structure puts in place twin highrise buildings, a 300 meters tall Tower A, which will house offices and a hotel, the world’s first vertical resort, whereas Tower B, standing at 235 meters tall oriented towards the residential units. The two towers are linked 125 meters in the air by ‘The ‘Link’, a 9000-tonne bridge, a 230 meters long steel structure that will top the list of engineering marvels and is set to break the world record for the longest cantilevered building in the world.
A 192 meters long first section of the Link of the One Za’abeel towers had been lifted to its final position, 100 meters above ground level a few weeks ago. The lift, one of the heaviest in the Middle East with a total weight of 8500 tonnes was carried out over a period of 3 days. More than 24 heavy-duty strand jacks were used for the lifting process. The second lift which will complete the Link structure to reach its final length of 230 metres will be lifted later this year.
Tan Sri Dato’ A K Nathan, Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director of Eversendai Corporation Berhad, said “I am extremely proud of our excellent team of engineers and highly skilled workforce for their dedication and commitment in lifting ‘The Link’ bridge safely and successfully adding to another historical Eversendai milestone achievement. Eversendai is Malaysia’s pride and we are proud to fly the Jalur Gemilang high by being a part of setting the world record for the longest cantilevered building in the world”.
“This project adds on to our long and colourful track record in constructing some of the world’s most prestigious and high profile iconic landmark structures starting from the first highrise building in 1991, the 16 Collyer Quay a 37 floor Tower, Chevron House, Republic Plaza as well as the State Court building in Singapore. Other mega highrise landmark buildings in the region include the Petronas Twin Tower 2 and Merdeka PNB118 in Malaysia.
